Interactive Class-Post 4
Hello there! This is where we will have the discussion forum on Friday!
Rules:
1. Post your discussion point in this format. Ex. Mike T Discussion Point: _______________. Remember--keep it to 1-2 sentences maximum. It could be a thought provoking question, a statement or opinion. All of the above need to sound incredibly educational and intelligent.

3. Responses to posts need to be appropriate and educational as well. Keep them to 1-2 sentences maximum as well.
Sample Post:
Ms Lanese's Sample Discussion Point: I believe that Dante and Virgil's relationship has reached a different plateau. Though Dante still acknowledges Virgil respectfully with names such as "teacher," ever since Virgil asked for the cord, there is a mutual reliance and partnership developing with one another.
Psuedonym: James Pranco's Response to Ms L's Point: I cant quite determine whether Dante is being tested by Virgil when he asks for the cord, but I do agree that there is development between the two.
Psuedonym: Mariah Scary's Response to Ms. L's Post: Well, how interesting it is that you mentioned Virgil testing Dante, because that crossed my mind as well. I believe that Dante is being tested by Virgil to see if he is strong enough to make it through the hardest part of the journey.
Okay you see--not only can you respond to a person's comment, but also build off the other comments for that post as well.
I think this will go well! So remember post your point as well as on each classmates point! Be respectful, affirm one another and show off your intellect!
Best of luck with the discussion board! I cannot wait to see how this evolves!

Interactive Class- Post 3
Hello class!
This is Thursday's main assignment! Whatever you have done by the end of class email me like yesterday--you all did great so far with the first assignment! If you are finished with this before class ends--then start your homework! If you do not finish by the time class ends-email me what is done and then finish it during study or at home--your responsibility. Plot spoiler about your homework- we will be going into the 8th circle... dum dum dum! (suspenseful)
If you have not read Posts 1 and 2 yet, please go back and do so before looking at this one.
Now, I remember mentioning to you that we would be uncovering and examining the different guards or monsters for each circle of Hell. It is interesting in the fact that each guard has specific characteristics and qualities that fit the job which they are assigned. It is now your job to dissect and determine a rationale behind Dante's choosing.
The Dark Wood of Error- Lion, Leopard, and She-Wolf
The River Acheron- Charon
Between Circle 1 Limbo and 2 Lust- Minos
Circle 3 Gluttony- Cerberus
Circle 4 Greed- Plutus
Circle 5 Anger- Phlegyas, Fallen Angels
Circle 7 Violence- Minotaur
Circle 8 Fraud- Geryon
Circle 9- Treachery- Biblical giants
Task: Choose 8 of the 11 and complete the following: This is a change-what is in bold-(You are just all too smart to just have a few monsters! Major complement!) If you have already emailed me some of this, just continue on with the new directions for the remainder of what you need to do!
1) Describe the guard- include details about physical appearance, background, tales they have been a part of, psychological attributes, history, etc)
2) Describe the circle and the punishment associated with the circle- briefly--what we already know, mixed with your own input
3) Look at both 1 and 2. Determine how these two aspects are correlated. How are they connected? What makes this guard a perfect fit for the circle, when looking at the punishment?
4) If you were to decide upon a more fit candidate for a guard, describe who or what you would choose and why? I really want you to get into great detail with this! Is it a modern day person? A creation of your own? A figure of the past?
Responses should be at least 5-8 sentences per monster
Email your responses to me! Let me know if you have any questions!
Tonight: Read Canto 18 and take summary notes/ discussion points. I will be asking you in tomorrow's class to post your discussion points for a discussion--so be ready for this. It will also be your homework to create a blogger account so you can do this in class. It will be great!

Interactive Class- Post 2
Hello, there! Welcome to class!
Note: If you have not read post 1--click and read that one before proceeding with this one!
Remember the way that you will be graded is through your relaying of information to me through email or blogger itself. I need to receive your response by the end of the class.
Mr. Allen and I were talking and there is a possibility if I am not there in person tomorrow (Thursday) that we may have a video chat class! This would be great! Make sure to say thank you to him for this idea!I really appreciate your patience with this.
Here is the assignment: The leading questions that I would ask you if we had a class discussion:
Canto 16-Responses should be 3-7 sentences each
1) What do you believe the purpose to be in Dante's inclusion of people that he admires or knows within certain aspects of Hell? ie Jacopo and Tegghaio.
2) Which group of Circle 7 is prevalent in this canto? How did you determine this?
3) How does Virgil asking Dante for the cord exemplify a different level of their relationship? Explain how it is different.
4) Descriptive imagery lines the text of the Inferno, describe the horrible creature toward the end of the canto. Take direct text in doing so.
Canto 17- Responses should be 3-7 sentences each
1) Who is Geryon and how does Geryon fit into Dante and Virgil's adventure?
2) Remind me again, who are the usurers? How are they punished? (Note there is more details that you should include from this canto)
3) What is the reason for the usurers present condition?
4) Where is the next destination for Dante and Virgil?
5) Why is Geryon referred to as the beast who makes the whole world stink? (p 149)
6) Make a prediction: what do you believe will happen in the 8th circle?
When you are finished with this, go to the 3rd post--->

Hello Students! Post 1
Hello, everyone! I hope you are all well! I am excited to see your interactive Inferno presentations when I get back. I have heard that they look good so far. It looks like we will have to interact through here for the next day or so. In lieu of that, this is what you need to do. When I post something, you are to respond to me through email or by creating a blogger account. It would be easiest truly to just email me responses. The link to this blog will remain on our edline page, so just click on the link each time!
If you are having difficulty with any assignment or aspect of the text, I am making it your responsibility to email me and let me know.
At this point between Friday and Wednesday, you should have completed the following. This should be a personal checklist and if something is incomplete, make certain it is done by the time I see you next.
Checklist:
1) Interactive Inferno needs to be complete and ready for presentation (Project Grade)
2) SAT Essay
3) Canto 16 is read
4) Summary paragraph and discussion points for Canto 16
5) Canto 17 is read
6) Summary paragraph and discussion points for Canto 17
Please note that when I return, we will be presenting the interactive Inferno, so make sure to be ready regardless of if its thursday, friday or monday.
Now that we have gotten through the details---what I plan on doing is hosting the class online for today minimally. This means that you are completing the work, emailing it to me, and will receive feedback as well as a grade by the end of the period or day, depending on how quickly I recieve your work.
If I do not receieve something by the end of the period--it is safe for me to assume you were twiddling your thumbs. I do try to be as present as possible, but I am not Big Brother in a surveillance camera! That would be strange! So, make sure you are doing your work and if you are confused ask questions.! Your noble substitute has my number in the case that you have an academic related question. Otherwise, it would be easiest to email me for a speedy response. If you are not tech savvy--my email is located at the bottom of our edline page.
Once you have read this, you must continue to post 2!------->
